Track Record
Councillor Record
Aldo has served as a Kingborough Councillor since October 2022. Here is some of what he has done for the community.
Key Positions & Advocacy
Planning & Development
Aldo has been a consistent voice for sensible, balanced planning, supporting genuine housing need while protecting neighbourhood character and the natural environment. He is widely regarded in the community as the go-to Councillor for help with planning issues or problems dealing with the Council machinery.
Fiscal Responsibility
With a background in running complex organisations, Aldo brings rigorous financial scrutiny to council decisions, always asking whether ratepayers are getting value for money. He has sat on the Audit Panel for the majority of his term, developing an intimate understanding of the council's fiscal processes and risk management.
Community Engagement
Aldo believes residents deserve to be genuinely heard, not just consulted. He has consistently pushed for better community engagement processes at Kingborough Council and has been the leading voice for the rural community's concerns about the LCZ planning changes and the poor communication surrounding their implementation.
Infrastructure & Services
From local roads to community facilities, Aldo has advocated for the infrastructure investments that make Kingborough a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Year by Year
2022–2023
Elected to Kingborough Council in October 2022, recording the second highest first-preference vote tally after the incumbent Mayor.
Narrowly missed out on being voted Deputy Mayor in his first election, gaining the majority of first-preference votes but narrowly missing out after preference counting.
Established a reputation for thorough preparation and firm, evidence-based debate in the council chamber.
Engaged extensively with residents across Kingborough to understand community priorities and concerns.
Raised questions on council financial management and the need for greater transparency in budget reporting.
Opposed moves to introduce drag queen story time into Kingborough Council facilities, which resulted in the matter being dropped by Council.
Led sensitive and constructive discussion among Councillors regarding proposed reforms to Council's approach to LGBTQIA+ representation, after staff expressed discomfort about compulsory diversity training being implemented without consultation, particularly those from CALD or faith-based backgrounds.
Successfully influenced Council to shift from compulsory training to an opt-in model, and to reconsider the use of a dedicated fourth flagpole for LGBTQIA+ causes. He proposed instead a broader, more inclusive approach to flagpole recognition that reflects the full diversity of the Kingborough community. This contribution helped reduce staff tension, refocus Council's messaging, and maintain unity among elected members during a polarising issue.
2023–2024
Consistently advocated for sensible, balanced planning outcomes, opposing inappropriate rezonings while supporting genuine housing need.
Was the main voice, at times the sole voice, raising alarm bells about the proposed Landscape Conservation Zone (LCZ) and LPS rezoning and its potential impacts on established neighbourhoods. His concerns have since been fully vindicated, with other Councillors now following his lead.
Championed improved community consultation processes for major planning decisions.
Supported initiatives to improve local roads, footpaths, and community infrastructure in Kingborough's southern suburbs.
Appointed to the vital CEO recruitment and evaluation panels, including leadership performance reviews and executive oversight.
Co-chaired the Kingborough Multicultural Advisory Group, leading engagement initiatives with CALD communities around strategic planning, access, and inclusion.
Deputy Chair of Kingborough Council's Sporting Facilities Strategic Review Panel, responsible for assessing current sporting infrastructure, engaging with community stakeholders, and developing future investment priorities to guide the equitable allocation of resources across diverse sports codes and precincts.
2024–2025
Continued to scrutinise council expenditure and advocate for responsible financial management.
Engaged with Tasmanian state government on issues affecting Kingborough, including transport, housing, and community services.
Supported community groups and local organisations seeking council assistance and partnership.
Maintained a strong record of attendance and participation at all council meetings and committee sessions.
Campaigned strongly for a new stadium and its undeniable benefits for AFL in Kingborough, including the AFL High Performance Centre.
A strong supporter of the JackJumpers / Jewels High Performance Centre now under construction in Kingborough.
2025–2026
Announced candidacy for Mayor of Kingborough, building on three years of council experience.
Continued active engagement with residents across all parts of Kingborough.
Advocated for a council that is genuinely responsive, fiscally responsible, and community-focused.
Supporting the rural community through the LPS process to ensure transparency, maximum information flow, and due process for all Kingborough residents, protecting their most significant asset, the family home, for decades to come.
Seen as the preferred choice for the Kingborough business community, with campaign sign sites already secured in the heart of the Kingborough CBD.
Engaged with key community stakeholders on the priorities that matter most to Kingborough residents.
